about our sounds

The beating heart of kansha 感謝 is the kansha 感謝 sessions, a monthly gathering that invites the community to share in the explorations of the artists within the kansha community. The beauty of these sessions come from the wide variety of creatives that can appear at any given session, from straight ahead jazz musicians to folk singers, visual artists and everywhere in between. This diversity of discipline, gender and ethnicity creates a sense of genuine collaboration that extends beyond the boundaries of kansha 感謝, with established members of the creative community and visiting artists often being a part of the sessions as well. With this deep reverence for spontaneity imbedded in the sessions, audiences and artists are always bound to find surprises galore at these performances.
These are creatives sharing what they love.
In a space they love.
For the community they love.

kansha 感謝 acknowledges the Traditional Owners of the land where we create, the Turrbal, Yuggera and Jagera people, and pay our respect to elders past, present and future. We extend that respect to other Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island People.
Sovereignty was never ceded.

We also acknowledge the use of the Japanese language as a means of branding for kansha 感謝. This choice was made out of deep respect for Japanese culture and serves to honour the meaning of the word within the language: an expression of gratitude that reflects a conscious and mindful appreciation of life.
